One Year on From My Knee Reconstruction.

I have learnt a few things in this time;

1) Physios get better with age and experience.

2) A lot of physios are crap.

3) After not walking for many months, you no longer take it for granted.

4) Pain is not good, if you have a joint problem it should be fixed, not ignored.

5) Doctors who are GP's (General Practitioners) are not who you go to see after injuring yourself, expecially playing sport. Complete waste of time.

6) Girlfriend/Wife/Partner are an invaluable means of meal preperation, financial support, packing and moving, fetching of drinks, driving, etc.

I'd like to acknowledge my girlfriends efforts during my injury. She really helped me get back on my feet, while I became a lazy couch potato.

My legs two weeks after surgery. Both legs had shrunk, especially the right but the swelling is deceptive. The left leg is roughly 23 inches and the calf 15 (both may have been smaller). Prior to injury my thighs were 26-26.5 inches and calves 16.5.

Now after one year legs back to a normal healthy shape, with scars barely noticable. Thighs are slightly smaller than prior to injury measures, mainly due to hamstrings lagging. Thigh 25.5 inches, calf 16.5.
